Some people may worry that a trip to the jungle could be too rustic for them, but there are plenty of Amazon rainforest luxury trips where you’ll have all of your creature comforts in exquisite comfort, with the creatures themselves actually outside. The Napo Wild Life Center advertises itself as the most luxurious lodge in Ecuador’s Amazon. There are only 16 rooms at the lodge which gives the place an intimate feel, and the rooms are incredible. Lavishly designed with excellent quality furniture, the lodge is extremely comfortable, and if it wasn’t for the cacophony of amazing Amazon noises in the background you could easily forget you were in middle of the jungle! The Napo Wild Life Center has expert guides, carefully recruited and selected for their wealth of knowledge of the flora and fauna in the area, and who will be eager to take you out and about on adventures. There is also a 20-foot high observation tower at Napo Lodge, with views extending 360 degrees over Ecuador’s primary rainforest.
Sacha Lodge
Sacha Lodge is another wonderful location for a luxury trip in Ecuador. The lodge is considered one of the finest in the country and it is located amid 500 acres of pristine rainforest. It too is in the Yasuni National park. Like the Napo Wild Life Centre, it too has a 360-degree observation tower, and it also boasts a 940-foot canopy walkway. There are a lot of superb trips that can be taken from this luxury lodge, such as a hike to Lake Pilchicocha, birdwatching and canoe wildlife observation around the lodge, a trip to the parrot clay lick and more. You’ll be likely to see a wide variety of weird and wonderful creatures here including caimans, anacondas and capybaras, to name just a few. Don’t forget to fish for piranhas!
La Selva Lodge
Yet another exquisite Amazon rainforest luxury trip can be taken to La Selva Lodge. La Selva is also found in the Yasuni National Park, and one of the most fabulous aspects of this place is the luxurious Amazon suites, each appointed with Jacuzzi. There are 19 high-class suites here in total, and it is even closer to the delightful colorful parrot lick than the other lodges mentioned. There are hammocks to kick back and relax between various trips and outings to see the wildlife, and there are social lounges with bar-restaurant facilities, as well as a small library for those inquisitive about answering further questions they may have about the intriguing flora and fauna of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Lovely experiences here include wildlife spotting on the Garzacocha Lagoon, and if you are lucky you might even get to see a tapir, aside from all of the other magnificent beasts you will also spot on your Amazon adventure. Kapawi Lodge
Last but not least, Kapawi Ecolodge provides a chance for a once in a lifetime luxury Amazon jungle adventure in Ecuador too. The Kapawi Ecolodge is situated deep in Achuar territory. It has 20 double cabins, and visitors who travel here report great luxury and comfort that has allowed them to have a wonderful stay. Whatever package you choose, it is important to be mindful that your trip is after all, to the deep rainforest. Even the most luxury trips will require you traveling to your rainforest lodge. In most cases this will require a trip in a motorized canoe up the river, which may take two hours or more. This is worth doing, as the opportunities for wildlife observation when you get there are superb. If you are lucky you may also get to see wildlife and indigenous life going on along the way as well. Also, just because your trip is luxury does not mean that you can avoid all insects, or even all mud. The jungle, is the jungle. Bring and wear mosquito repellant, cover your skin and put on the rubber boots your lodge provides you so that you can maximize your enjoyment of this amazing trip. On the bright side, the most luxurious lodges in the Ecuadorian Amazon are much better equipped than the cheaper ones, and offer stable electricity supply with a good backup, and a level of comfort that may well even be superior to home. Chefs are typically trained to cook a variety of delightful local and international meals, and can deal with different dietary requirements too.
