Itamandi Lodge offers itineraries for 3 and 4 days

Day 1 – Arrival to Itamandi Ecolodge

We start our trip to Itamandi Ecolodge at the Arajuno Bridge, where we will take a motorized canoe going upstream for 20 minutes to begin our great experience in the tropical rainforest. Once we arrive at the dock area of Itamandi Ecolodge, the resident manager will greet you with a delicious welcome drink. 6:30 pm Night walk (optional) A flashlight and camera are the most important tools on this night excursion, which allows guests to hear the nocturnal sounds and to look for fishing bats, owls, a variety of insects, tarantulas, toads and frogs, and possibly snakes, a great way to start your experience at this amazing Ecuadorian rainforest lodge!

Day 2 – Cultural Encounters and Clay Lick

Parrot Clay Lick for bird lovers, we take a canoe ride for 15 minutes upstream early in the morning to visit a parrot clay lick (Saladero). Our expert naturalists teach you about the ecology, flora, and fauna of the Ecuadorian Rainforest along the trail. In the afternoon, it is time to enjoy a cultural activity. An Amazonian Kichwa community will host us and we learn about their way of life and the interaction they have with the forest. We finish the visit with a traditional dance performed by the kids in this community and you have some time to buy some handicrafts, made by the local indigenous communities.

Day 3 – Amazon Wildlife Exploration

Visit to “Isla Anaconda” and “Amazoonico” After our delicious breakfast buffet, we take a 40 min. canoe ride downriver to visit the “Isla Anaconda”. We can observe the prehistoric bird “Hoatzin”, woolly monkeys, squirrel monkeys, just to mention a few. After lunch, we will go to AmaZOOnico, which is sheltering a number of different animals, some in danger of extinction. AmaZOOnico is not a zoo but a rescue center for animals of the Amazon in Ecuador. We can observe a wide variety of monkeys, macaws, ocelots, capybara, toucans, parrots and many more animals in their natural habitat at close range.

Day 4 – Departure Day

Our last wake up in the middle of the forest, pack up your luggage and get ready to start your journey back to Quito. Breakfast will be served at 8:00 am and you can take the last photos of the Amazon lodge and the surroundings. Say your last good bye to the guides and people from the lodge and get onto our motorized canoe for a 20 min, ride to the Arajuno Bridge. There, is still 20 minutes ride from the bridge to Tena Town. If you arranged private transportation it will be waiting for you, otherwise the public bus passes by the bridge and it will take you to Tena terminal bus station, so you can catch your ride for the next destination.
