There are a variety of ways in which you can find yourself the best and cheapest flights for your international journey to Ecuador. A number of websites and apps are available that help you to pinpoint the right flights that will best suit your needs. Some people want the cheapest flights, while others want those with fewest changes and no long layovers. Others still like to book with specific airlines where possible so that they can get and/or use points. Whatever your preference, there is a company out there that will help you find what you are looking for.

Good Value International Flights

Some excellent deals can be found for international flights to Ecuador, and there are some websites/apps you can use to help you find the best options. Some of these are:

Kayak (www.kayak.com)

Kayak offers some good deals, and it also allows you to track prices. If you track prices, Kayak will notify you of how prices are looking, and whether they are going up or not, so you can make an informed booking decision. There are a large range of filters you can use, so that you can identify the right flight for you, filtering by number of stops, take off and landing times, airline and many others depending on personal preference. Some of the options offered are with multiple airlines, and In some cases, with this website there are different websites for different home countries (e.g. for example, if flying from the UK, the Kayak website is: www.kayak.co.uk)

Skyscanner (www.skyscanner.com)

Skyscanner offers a very similar service to Kayak, with a similar range of filters that you can apply, to find a flight that best suits your needs. As with Kayak, it will track the flights you are looking for so you can see when the prices are going up and down, to allow you to make a decision on purchase in a timely manner. It also provides you information on the “greener” flying options, letting you know of the flights that are lower on carbon footprint, so you can make a more environmentally friendly choice.

Cheapoair (www.cheapoair.com)

As you might expect with a name like Cheapoair, this is a website on which you may be able to find some great bargains. The website offers similar sorts of services as Kayak and Skyscanner and we have also seen here excellent deals for Galapagos flights.

Hopper (www.hopper.com)

Hopper has developed an algorithm which predicts prices, helping people book flights and hotels at the optimal time, to save money. There are some excellent deals to be had. In particular the “Watch” feature is very helpful. Hopper really comes into its own if you are able to be flexible about travel dates, which of course isn’t always possible. To access Hopper services, you’ll need to download the company’s app.

Compromises for Great Deals

No matter which of these websites/apps you decide to use, be aware that for some of the best deals you may have to make some compromises. Those might include long layover times between flights or connecting between different airlines and having to self-transfer between the two. In some cases, the best deals may be found on flights running at rather unsociable hours, or at airports that are not very convenient to get to.

Flights within Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands

Flights within Ecuador can also be booked online. However, if you are going to the Galapagos Islands on a cruise, most of the cruise  operators require customers booking the Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands return trip flight through their cruise booking. In many cases if you do not do this, you are unable to book the cruise. In other scenarios, you may be able to book your flight separately, but cruises may impose a penalty fee if you do so. This varies from cruise to cruise and is dictated by cruise operators – they have the final say.

For land-based Galapagos packages the situation is different. At Ecuador and Galapagos Insiders we can make the booking for you, or you are free to make the booking yourself. We will offer the best available prices we can find, but in many cases, the prices on websites such as Kayak may be better. This means that if you are comfortable booking your own flights you may find it advantageous from a financial perspective to do so.

There are daily flights from Quito and Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands and back.

Insider Recommendations for flight bookings

We recommend that you shop around for the best international flights to Ecuador, as there are some excellent websites to help you find the best deals. We don’t offer the service of booking international flights for you, but we do book local flights from Quito or from Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands and back accordingly with your itinerary and with the cruise or land based tour of your choice. Prices for local flights through cruise operators are always subject to their prices as they are the ones that issue tickets directly, but just as we offer the best available rates in the market for the vast majority of the Galapagos cruises, we can also offer the best prices for local flights.

We are experts in both the Ecuador mainland and the Galapagos Islands, and we will be happy to help you book your trip. Why not get in touch today and we can organize the best Ecuador and Galapagos Islands adventure for you.
