Itinerary East - North & East Islands
Day 1 (Saturday) - BLACK TURTLE COVE
AM: Baltra
PM: Black Turtle Cove
Today your Galapagos adventure on the Mary Anne luxury Galapagos yacht starts when we transfer you from Baltra Airport to your home for the week aboard the boat.
After some time to get settled and a welcome talk we will visit Black Turtle Cove on Santa Cruz Island. This is not a landing site, and we will explore by panga to observe the marine life in this beautiful inlet.
Galapagos wildlife to spot today: Golden ray, sea turtles, spotted eagle ray, herons, pelicans, white tipped reef shark.
Day 2 (Sunday) - GENOVESA
AM: Darwin Bay
PM: Prince Philip Steps Overnight the Mary Anne cruise ship sailed to Genovesa Island, which is where we spend the day today. The first Galapagos visitor site is Darwin Bay, a fabulous coral beach with a trail that winds past numerous bird colonies – a birdwatcher’s delight! Later we’ll head to Prince Phillip’s Steps, where a steep path up the cliff also leads to a seabird colony and some fantastic views. Galapagos wildlife today: Swallow-tailed gull, great frigate bird, red-footed booby, lava heron, lava gull.
Day 3 (Monday) - BARTOLOME & SULLIVAN BAY
AM: Bartholomew
PM: Sullivan Bay
On Bartolome Island this morning we will enjoy fabulous views and the most photographed scene in the Galapagos, at Pinnacle Rock. The Island is very picturesque.
In the afternoon we will make a visit to Sullivan Bay on Santiago Island, with its stunning and breathtaking lava field, with plenty of wildlife to view along the trail.
Galapagos wildlife to look out for today: Galapagos penguin, reef shark, green sea turtles, marine iguana, lava heron, Sally Lightfoot crab, sea lion.
Day 4 (Tuesday) - RABIDA & CERRO DRAGON
AM: Rábida
PM: Cerro Dragón
This morning the Mary Anne Galapagos cruise boat moors near Rabida Island, where an unusual red sand beach awaits. There is a lovely trail, and an excellent snorkeling site here, with opportunities for some lovely wildlife photographs.
Later we head to Cerro Dragon (Dragon Hill) on Santa Cruz Island for the chance to spot wildlife living in the saline lagoon, and to see miniature dragons (land iguanas) on the hill itself.
Galapagos wildlife to see: Blue footed booby, Nazca booby, Galapagos dove, marine iguana.
Day 5 (Wednesday) - SANTA CRUZ
AM: Highlands
PM: Charles Darwin Research Station and Breeding Center.
Santa Cruz Island offers up one of the Galapagos highlights today – the chance to see giant tortoises living in their natural habitat in the lush, green highlands.
After our highlands visit we will head to the Charles Darwin Station to learn about conservation in the Galapagos archipelago, and to see the breeding program for giant tortoises. After this, we will board the Mary Anne Galapagos yacht to set sail.
Galapagos wildlife today: Giant tortoise, vermillion flycatcher, land iguana, finches, pelican, sea lion.
Day 6 (Thursday) - SOUTH PLAZAS & SANTA FE
AM: South Plaza
PM: Santa Fe
At South Plaza Island this morning, the scenery is dominated by fascinating cacti, among which land iguanas roam. In fact, this island has one of the biggest land iguana populations in the Galapagos.
Later we will visit Santa Fe Island which also has interesting cacti vegetation, and we will spot fascinating wildlife along the trail.
Galapagos wildlife to look out for: Sea lion, land iguana, tropicbirds, swallow-tailed gull, reef fish.
Day 7 (Friday) - ESPANOLA
AM: Punta Suárez
PM: Gardner Bay
A special treat awaits today as we visit the wonderful Espanola Island Galapagos visitor sites. We will start at Punta Suarez, for an interesting walk along a trail which winds through bird colonies. In season we may see the waved albatross.
Later on, we head to Gardner Bay for some beach time on this fabulous white sand beach. We’ll share the beach with noisy sea lions, but that just adds to the charm.
Galapagos wildlife today includes: Sea lions, waved albatross, Galapagos hawk, Espanola mockingbird, blue-footed booby, Nazca booby.
Day 8 (Saturday) - SANTA CRUZ
AM: Twin Craters
PM: Baltra airport
Back at Santa Cruz Island there is one last site to visit after saying goodbye to the Mary Anne yacht. We’ll head up into the Santa Cruz highlands to look at and photograph Los Gemelos (twin craters) – a fascinating volcanic sight.
We will then transfer you to the airport on Baltra Island for your onward journey to the Ecuadorian mainland.
Galapagos wildlife to observe today: Finches, Galapagos dove, short-eared owl, sea lion, pelican, marine iguana.
Itinerary West - South & West Islands
Day 1 (Saturday) - SANTA CRUZ
AM: Arrival
PM: Charles Darwin Research Station and Breeding Center
Today we will collect you from Baltra Airport and your trip on the Mary Anne luxury Galapagos yacht will commence.
After some time to settle in on the boat we’ll head to the Charles Darwin Research Station and Fausto Llerena Breeding Center at Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. Here we can find out more about Galapagos conservation and observe baby giant tortoises and land iguanas.
Galapagos wildlife to spot today: Giant Tortoises.
Day 2 (Sunday) - FLOREANA
AM: Punta Cormorant & Devil’s Crown.
PM: Post Office Bay
This morning we will wake on the Mary Anne Galapagos cruise, close to the fabulous Floreana Island where we will spend the day.
Our first visit is Cormorant Point, where a green sand beach gives way to a salty lagoon where flamingos can often be viewed. After this, there is a chance to snorkel at Devil’s Crown – arguably the best spot in the islands for this pursuit.
Later we’ll visit Post Office Bay and learn about the antiquated postal system of leaving mail in barrels, at this lovely white sand beach.
Galapagos wildlife to see: Flamingos, boobies, pelicans, hammerhead sharks, frigate birds, sea
turtles.
Day 3 (Monday) - FLOREANA & ISABELA
AM: Asilo de La Paz
PM: Cerro Azul
Today we’ll first visit Asilo de La Paz on Floreana Island for a history lesson about early Galapagos settlers. The trail leads to two interesting sites close to a hill.
Later we will sail to the western islands of the Galapagos archipelago and can enjoy the fabulous landscapes of Isabela Island and the Cerro Azul volcanos. Kick back on the Mary Anne Galapagos boat and enjoy the ride!
Galapagos wildlife to see today: Flamingo, black necked stilt, Galapagos petrel.
Day 4 (Tuesday) - ISABELA
AM: Punta Moreno
PM: Elizabeth Bay
Isabela Island awaits today. Our first port of call is Punta Moreno where lava rock formations give way to brackish water which wading birds love. We’ll also likely spot lizards among the rocks.
Elizabeth Bay offers excellent opportunities to spot marine life as well as a multitude of birds in the bay area. It is easy to see the fish swimming in the crystal clear waters beside the panga.
Galapagos wildlife to spot here: Rays, Galapagos penguin, lizards, pelican, flightless cormorant, lava heron.
Day 5 (Wednesday) - ISABELA & FERNANDINA
AM: Urbina Bay
PM: Punta Espinosa
This morning we start at Urbina Bay on Isabela Island. Here, chunks of coral rise from the sea as a result of volcanic activity, and we follow some pretty trails to see the wildlife.
The Mary Anne Galapagos yacht then heads to Fernandina Island for a trip to Punta Espinosa. The volcanic geology here is intriguing, and Galapagos wildlife resides among lava formations.
Galapagos wildlife to see today includes: Flamingo, heron, stilt, pintail duck, lizards, snakes, penguin,
giant tortoise.
Day 6 (Thursday) - ISABELA
AM: Tagus Cove
PM: Punta Vicente Roca
Back on Isabela Island, today’s first visitor site this morning is to Tagus Cove. This former pirate hideaway has a lovely trail with stunning landscape and the chance to visit a salt water crater lagoon
to view birdlife residing here.
Later we will visit Vincente Roca Point. The rocky coastline offers plenty of nooks and crannies suited for nesting spots for seabirds, among others.
Galapagos wildlife here: Iguanas, turtles, sea lion, sharks, Galapagos penguin.
Day 7 (Friday) - SANTIAGO
AM: Espumilla
PM: Puerto Egas
Today the Mary Anne ship visits two Galapagos visitor sites on Santiago Island. The first is Espumilla Beach, a stunning red sand beach where photographic opportunities abound, and where there is plenty of interesting history.
At Puerto Egas history lessons continue as we enjoy a lovely coastal trail, spotting wildlife along the way living in tidal pools, and on the water’s edge.
Galapagos wildlife to observe today: Boobies, pelican, gulls, sea lion, Galapagos Fur Sea Lion, crabs, marine iguana, rays.
Day 8 (Saturday) - NORTH SEYMOUR
AM: North Seymour
It’s goodbye to the Mary Anne Galapagos cruise today, but before that there is a chance to visit one is a fairly flat trail, passing through bird colonies, offering one last opportunity to photograph fascinating Galapagos creatures.
Following this, we will transfer you to the airport, from where you can catch your outbound flight to the Ecuador mainland.
Galapagos wildlife to look for today: Frigate birds, blue-footed booby, land iguana, marine iguana.
